Dr. Michael Bryan and Dr. Amy Mettman and their audiologists, Dr. Brooke Smith and Jenita Guthrie, are board certified with over 50 years of combined experience in treating both pediatric and adult patients.
Dr. Michael Bryan completed his undergraduate work at the University of Texas in Austin where he received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He received his medical degree from University of Texas Medical Branch, graduating with highest honors. He completed his General Surgery internship and Otolaryngology residency at UTMB. He is board certified in Otolaryngology, including General Otolaryngology, Otology, Facial Plastic Surgery, Head and Neck Surgery, and Pediatric Otolaryngology. With over twenty years of experience, Dr. Bryan's practice encompasses all aspects of pediatric and adult otolaryngology, including the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of hearing disorders.
Dr. Bryan is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and is affiliated with the Texas Medical Association and the Tarrant County Medical Society. He has hospital privileges at facilities throughout the Fort Worth Metroplex, including Cook Children's Medical Center, Texas Health Harris Methodist Southlake and HEB, Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine, and Texas Pediatric Surgery Center.
Dr. Michael Bryan is a native Texan. In May of 2000, he moved his practice back to the Ft. Worth area, where he and his wife grew up. When not working with patients, he enjoys playing golf, taking ballroom dance lessons with his wife, and supporting the Texas Longhorns. His house is "tri-vided" by a daughter who graduated from the University of Oklahoma, a son who is a senior at Texas A&M, and his youngest child, a son who is a sophomore at the University of Texas in Austin.
Dr. Amy K Mettman attended Xavier University (Cincinnati, OH) where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences and did her thesis in Organic Chemistry. She received her medical degree from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She completed her General Surgery internship and Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery training at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
Dr. Mettman enjoys all aspects of caring for pediatric and adult patients with ear, nose and throat issues ranging from ear tubes and tonsil removal to hearing loss, sinus and thyroid surgery.
Dr. Mettman has lived in DFW since 2006 and enjoys travelling and working on her golf game (it needs a lot of work).

Dr. Brooke Smith completed her bachelor's degree in Pre-Professional Speech Language Pathology at Louisiana Tech University and her master's degree in Audiology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She then completed her doctoral degree (Au.D.) in Audiology from the University of Florida in 2002. Dr. Smith is Board Certified in Audiology through the American Board of Audiology and certified through the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). She holds membership with the American Academy of Audiology and ASHA.
Dr. Smith has years of experience of evaluating and managing the hearing needs of patients of all ages, birth to seniors. She has practiced in both hospital and private office settings. She has specific interests in diagnostic audiology, hearing aid dispensing and aural rehabilitation, auditory processing disorders, hearing conservation, and vestibular disorders.
Jenita Guthrie completed her Master's degree in Audiology from the University of Memphis in 1982. She received her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and has over 26 years experience as a licensed and certified Audiologist. Her undergraduate work, obtained from attending Vanderbilt University and Appalachian State University, led to her Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Language Pathology.
Jenita's early clinical Audiology years involved diagnostic hearing and balance testing, hearing aid fitting, aural rehabilitation, patient education services, pre and post-operative monitoring, and providing instruction for resident physicians for the Department of Head and Neck Surgery for both Washington University Medical Center and St. Louis University Medical Center. She has over 20 years of extensive experience providing educational seminars and training support for dispensing Audiologists and Hearing Aid Dispensers across the United States. Currently, we are happy to have her at the Audiology Center of Southlake where she assists Dr. Bryan by providing audiological diagnostic testing, and provides full service Hearing Aid Fitting and Counseling for our patients in need of hearing instrumentation. Her Board Associations have included the Academy of Dispensing Audiologists, American Academy of Audiologists, Texas Speech and Hearing Association, and the Scott Haug Audiology Foundation.
